Sorrells and Jane Morrow Sorrells]: (Clerks' handwriting is Very difficult to read): "This indenture made the 25th day of March in the Year of Our Lord 1862 between Joseph Sorrells of the County of Haywood and State of North Carolina of the one part and Rebecca & Sarah Sorrells of the county and state aforesaid of the second part, Witnesseth that the said Joseph Sorrells for and in consideration of their love & the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by them, the receipt of which the said Joseph Sorrells doth hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, assigned and sold & confirmed & doth by these presents grant, assign & confirm unto the said Rebecca & Sarah Sorrells during their natural lifetime one half of a tract, piece and parcel of land situated, lying & being in the County of Haywood & State of North Carolina of the waters of Camp Branch, waters of Richland Creek. "Beginning at a locust on the North side of Camp Branch running East _?_ & running one hundred & ninety poles to a stake, thence West one hundred and ninety poles to stake thence North to the beginning, containing one hundred acres more or less, & also all the woods, waters, materials & all & every of the appurtenances thereunto belonging... [Horatio Nelson Brittain was a son of Revolutionary War Veteran James Brittain and Delilah Stringfield Brittain. Horatio married Nancy Elizabeth Morrow, who was the out-of-wedlock daughter of George Palmer and Jane Morrow. Jane later married in Haywood County to William A.
