HAYWOOD COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - R. & J.R. Love to Joseph Sorrells ----¤¤¤¤---- Court Records: Haywood County, March 17, 1852; Joseph Sorrells [son of William A. Sorrells and Jane Morrow Sorrells]: "The execution of a deed from R. & J.R. Love to Joseph Sorrells was duly proved in open court by the oath of I. Keener, subscribing witness thereto, and ordered to be registered." Haywood County Deed Book G, State of North Carolina Grant 591 to Joseph Sorrells, p. 48, recorded 1856: "Know ye that we, for and in consideration of the sum of five cents for every acres hereby granted and paid into our treasury, Joseph Sorrells has given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Joseph Sorrells a tract of land containing one hundred acres lying and being in the county of Haywood on the waters of Richland Creek and on Spence Ridge, Beginning at a spruce pine on top of said ridge and then running North sixty six East seventy poles to a chestnut across said creek, thence South twenty two East one hundred and seventy eight poles to a buckeye across said creek, thence South sixty six East seventy poles to a stake, thence North twenty two East one hundred and seventy eight poles to the beginning. Entered the sixteenth day of September 1854 as by the plat hereunto annexed, doth appear together with all woods, waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments & appurtenances to the said belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Joseph Sorrells his heirs and assigns forever... this grant to be registered in the Secretaries office of our county of Haywood... "Witness, Thomas Bragg, Esq., our Governor, Captain General and Commander in Chief, at Raleigh the 29th day of May in the 80th year of our Independence and in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. Recorded in the Secretaries Office, J. Hall, secretary. Registered the 17th day of July A.D. 1856, J.H.
