TEXIE ZELL HICKS 

MINNEAPOLIS, NC - Texie Zell Hicks, 98, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at the Roan 
Highlands Nursing Center. Born in Haywood County, she was the daughter of the 
late Letcher Alonzo Hicks and Mary Clark Hicks, and wife of the late Loddie 
Hicks. She was also preceded in death by a son, Fred Thomas Hicks; two 
sisters, Bervolee Chandler and Ruth Sanders; a brother, Dawson Hicks; and one 
granddaughter, Amber Hicks. She was a member of Mountain View Freewill Baptist 
Church.

Survivors include two sons, Howard William Hicks and Dawson Glenn Hicks, both 
of Newland; two sisters, Ollie Holden and Pollie Waters; 11 grandchildren; 12 
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Minneapolis Baptist 
Church. The Rev. Brian Griffith officiated. Burial followed in Ashley 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. 
Yancey Funeral Services of Burnsville assisted the family.
