Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Jack L. Crater and the Rev. William Wisseman. Burial was in Holland Cemetery. Pallbearers were George B. Duke, Elden Schultz, J.C. Smith, W.P. Smith, Jr., Horrace Thomas and Raymond Nance. Garren died Sunday, May 20 in Chowan Manor Nursing Home, Ahoskie, N.C. after a long illness. A native of Henderson County, N.C., he was the son of William L. and Mrs. Alev Lanning Garren and the husband of the late Annie Baity Garren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, N.C. He had retired in 1944 after 40 years service as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of Biltmore Masonic Lodge 466, Hendersonville, N.C. Surviving are one son, Dr. Kenneth H. Garren of Holland; one granddaughter, Miss Kenna Garren of Holland; two grandson, Charles M. Garren of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Samuel B. Garren of Baton Rouge, La.
