The Semi-Weekly Messenger (Wilmington NC) 29 Nov 1898
It seems that George Cathey, who killed Bud Heath on election night by a blow
with his fist, came in and surrendered to the authorities of Henderson county
Monday last. Counsel for the prisoner and for the state appeared before Judget
Bythe on Wednesday and bail for Mr Cathey's appearance at court was fixed at
$1000 which was readily furnished, and Mr Cathey is now free until the April
term of Transylvania superior court.
