Contributor's Note:  Bible probably belonged to Henry Lassiter, who 
was born in Winton, Hertford County, NC and appears to still be in 
Hertford Co. per the 1870 census. Since the bible has the records of 
Henry's family and his son Thomas Leroy Lassiter's family, it is 
possible that the bible belonged to Thomas Leroy, who was my 
greatgrandfather. At Thomas Leroy's death (or that of his wife Annie 
Virginia Hudgins Lassiter), the bible came into the possession of his 
son, Warner Hudgins Lassiter,  who during my lifetime lived in Windsor, 
Gates Co., NC. At the death of my great uncle Warner Hudgins Lassiter, 
the bible came into the possession of his grandson, Terry Lassiter, 
where it resides today.  I have seen it in years past, but not recently. 
The posting is from handwritten notes made by Warner Hudgins' daughter 
Violet Lassiter White. It appears that there were very few dates of death, 
the dates of death in parentheses having been added by Violet to her 
transcription.  The names in parentheses were added by me. Terry and 
I (and my two boys) are the only remaining male Lassiters from the line 
of Thomas Leroy.  Of Thomas Leroy's 12 children, only 5 made it to 
adulthood: Dora, Emma, Edward, Fannie, and Warner Hudgins.
