Hertford County, NC - Silvia Ussher Tombstone Mulberry Grove Cemetery Here Lyes the Body of Silvia Ussher wife of Dr Wm Ussher who Died July 5th anno Domini 1770 in the 18th year of her Age...... much Lamented by all that was acquaintend with her moral virtues and truly Pious life.....Requiesquat in Pace Oldest Known Grave in Hertford County Located in Mulberry Grove Cemetery She was the first wife of Dr. William Ussher. They moved from Northampton when Dr. Ussher bought "Lot 108" from the men who were commissioned by an act of assembly on November 3, 1766 to establish a town called "Windsor" on William Gray's land on the Cashy River. Dr. William Ussher paid 45 shillings for the lot on December 29, 1768. [William Ussher died on or about December 12,1780 (nuncupative will Feb Court 1781) and had a wife and child when he died, so he obviously remarried after Silvia passed away in 1770.] __________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
