Indenture made October 31, 1728 between William Lewis of Bertie and John Hobbs 
of the upper parish of Nansemond Co, VA, for ten barrels of tar, land in 
Bertie and part of a tract whereon the said William Lewis is now settled 
containing 30 acres.
Witnesses: William Smith, William Parker and John Drury
Recorded: August Court 1730
