Started as a Private, enlisting on February 13, 1862 in Winton, NC, detailed into the Quarter Master's Department on August 31, 1864, was captured at Fort Fisher, NC, on January 15, 1865, and released June 12, 1865, ending his service at that time. After the war, he was a farmer who bought a lot of land near St. John's, and was a sometime merchant in Murfreesboro, which in my opinion was because of his experience in the Quarter Master's Department in the Civil War.
