Hertford County, NC ~ Sons of Civil War Soldiers ++++++++++++++++++++ NICHOLS, William Calvin of Huntsville, Ala. Born March 6, 1840, in Owens Cross Roads, Madison Co., Ala. Entered service as a Private in the Confederate Army on April 1863, at Huntsville, Ala. in Co. E, 37th Tenn. Infantry and continued until captured at Huntsville, Alabama and paroled; He did not enter service again. He purportedly married twice, both wives by the name of Margaret the latter’s surname was Smith. He had two daughters, Mary who was born about 1858 and Sarah F.A. Nichols born in 1867 and died in Madison Co., AL in 1883. William Calvin Nichols died May 06, 1922 in Madison County, Huntsville, Alabama. Burial: Probably in Maple Hill Cemetery, in Huntsville, Madison Co., AL William Calvin Nichols was the son of Everitt Nichols of Hertford Co., NC and Selina Glover of Madison, AL. He was the grandson of Wright Nichols of Hertford Co. and Levinia Dunning of Bertie County. His G-Grandfather was John Nichols of Hertford County, NC.
