Hertford County, NC - Petition of Malichi TAYLOR, 1806 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Petition of Malichi TAYLOR & wife Winey TAYLOR 12 December 1806 Transcribed by Sloan Mason, SloMas7@aol.com Court Record The Honorable the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina- The Petition of Malichi TAYLOR & Winey his wife, one of the Heirs & in behalf of the other heirs of George & Stokes ROCHEL, dec’d-Humbly Sheweth, that the said George & Stokes ROCHEL Inlisted in the 3rd North Carolina Continental Regiment and died in the actual Service of the United States- Your petitioner therefore prays that your Honorable beody will pass a resolution directing the Secretary of the State to issue Land Warrants to the Heirs of the said George & Stokes agreeable to the true intent and meaning of the Acts of the General Assembly in that case made & provided & your petitioner as in duty bound will pray to--- Signed: Malichi TAYLOR & Winey his wife Allowed The Heirs of George ROCHELE 640.acres Stokes ROCHELE 640 acres The Petition of Malichi TAYLRO & wife In Senate Decemb. 12th 1806 Read & referred to the Committee appointed to confer with the Secretary of State. State of North Carolina Hertford County Personally appeared before me Samuel WELLS one of the Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid, Nicholas TYNER? who maketh Oath on the Holy Evangilist of Almighty God, that in the year 1776 or 1777 George ROCHEL and Stokes ROCHEL inlisted in the North Carolian Continental service that Captain Nicholas EDMUNDS inlisted them for three years, and that this Deponant was then a Soldier and in the same company commanded by Capt. Nicholas EDMUNDS in the third Regiment with both the aforesaid ROCHELS, and that George ROCHEL died in South Carolina in the service of the United States, and Stokes ROCHEL died in North Carolina in the service of the United States, and further this Deponent saith not.
