Hertford County, NC - Train Wreck, 1910 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Atlanta Constitution, Atlanta, Georgia May 25, 1910 25 PERSONS INJURED IN RAILROAD WRECK Norfolk and Southern Train Derailed in North Carolina. Hertford, N.C., May 24, - A Norfolk and Sounthern northbound train was derailed 6 miles south of Hertford this afternoon and twenty-five persons were injured. Every car in the train turned turtle, the locomotive only remaining on the track. Baggagemaster Lane, of Norfolk; a child of W.H. Sauderlin, of Belhove, and Mrs. E.R. Conger, of Edenton, N.C., were the only ones seriously injured. The injured were rushed on a special train to Norfolk for treatment. The injuries of others were bruises, sprains and slight cuts.
