  Franklin, July 14 – (Special) – Jethro Garnett Barnes, aged 53, prominent 
Southampton County farmer, died at Raiford Hospital here tonight after an 
illness of week.
  Mr. Barnes was a son of the late Richard T. and Mrs. Devilla Barnes, of 
Southampton County. He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Christie B. 
Saunders, and Misses Emily, Marian, and Norma Barnes, of Southampton County, 
and Mrs. E.R. Bonniville, of Miami, Fla.
  Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at 
the funeral home of W. JM. Holland & Sons, Franklin, by the Rev Mr. Johnson, 
assisted by the Rev. L.E. Dailey. Burial will be in the family cemetery near 
Como, N.C.
