   Henry Thomas Barnes, 78, a retired farmer of the Como community, died at 
his home Thursday morning following an illness of two years. Mr. Barnes is 
survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Parker Barnes, and three sons, John Thomas 
and Abram Barnes of Como and H. Paul Barnes of Philadelphia. He was the son of 
the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Barton Barnes of Hertford County, N.C.

   Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock from Buckhorn 
Baptist Church, Como, of which the deceased was a member, with Rev. Mr. 
Lanier, his pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
