  A CAROLINIAN GONE. 

  About midnight last night Captain George H. Barnes died at his rooms at the 
Atlantic Hotel, after a long illness, in the 54th year of his age.  Deceased was a 
native of Murfreesboro, N. C., and started in the cotton business here just after 
the war, making a fortune.  During the war he served as captain in the Confederate
