ELLA MAY PHELPS BASNIGHT

   Mrs. Ella May Basnight of Ahoskie, N.C., mother of Mrs. H.J. Lyon of this 
town, died at Raiford Hospital Wednesday night after an illness of several weeks 
duration. Mrs. Basnight had been a frequent visitor in Franklin where she had 
many friends and acquaintances, and was visiting her daughter here when taken 
ill.

   She was 58 years of age and is survived by her husband, H.S. Basnight, 
prominent citizen and business man of Ahoskie; by two daughters, Mrs. H.J. Lyon 
of Franklin and Miss Ethel Basnight of Ahoskie; three grandchildren and two 
sisters, Mrs. H.W. Bateman of Chester, Penn., and Mrs. W.T. Puckett of Marcus 
Hook, Penn.

   The body was taken to Ahoskie yesterday, and funeral services will be held in 
that town this (Friday) afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Ahoskie M. E. Church, 
conducted by the Pastor, Rev. D.O. Merritt.
