ELEY WASHINGTON BRITTON

   Eley Washington Britton died at his home in Ahoskie, N.C. on Thursday 
afternoon, October 6, of a heart attack.

   Funeral services were conducted from the Ahoskie Baptist Church on Saturday 
afternoon. Burial was in the Ahoskie cemetery.

   Mr. Britton was 63 years of age. He was a native of Northampton County, N.C., 
his parents being the late Junius Washington and Mary Sumner Britton. His 
childhood was spent at Winborne’s Mill in Southampton County.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Terry Britton, and two sons, B.W. and 
Eley Junius Britton, all of Ahoskie; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Courtwright of 
Richmond, Miss Thelma Britton of Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. Leonard Smith of 
Conway, N.C.; one brother, Linwood Britton of Handsom; two sisters, Mrs. Ellie 
Brett of Portsmouth and Mrs. C.L. King of Ahoskie; two half-sisters, Mrs. George 
Walker of Portsmouth and Mrs. George Smuck of California; a stepmother, Mrs. 
Catherine Miles Britton of Portsmouth; and nine grandchildren.
