Britton of Ahoskie, N.C., died Monday, October 31, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur G. Tomlin of Carrsville, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ahoskie. Before illness overtook her, she was active in women’s club activities and church affairs. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Britton is survived by one sister, Mrs. Leona T. Cutchins of Franklin; and four brothers, Roy G., James J. and William A. Tomlin, all of Franklin, and Oscar V. Tomlin of Pennsville, N.J. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church, Ahoskie, Wednesday, November 2, at the 2:30 p.m. by Rev. W.P. Milne, pastor. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Active pallbearers were Dick Newsome, Glen Parker, Norman S. Godwin, Harry Holloman, H.L. Howell and Bill Everett. The ladies of Mrs. Britton’s Sunday School class sat in a body and served as honorary pallbearers.
