WYATT EMMETT BRYANT

   Wyatt Emmett Bryant, aged 55, son of the late Nathaniel Davis and Eva 
Woodward Bryant, passed away at Riverside Hospital, Newport News, early Thursday 
morning, October 26, 1944, after an illness of many months.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lulie Railey Bryant, and one daughter, Mrs. 
Virginia Bryant Church, of Newport News; one sister, Mrs. S.S. Bishop, two 
brothers, J.W. and L.L. Bryant and one uncle, J.L. Bryant, all of Handsom, an 
aunt, Mrs. J.H. Flippin of Covington, Tenn., and a large family connection in 
Southampton and New Kent counties, his mother being a native of the New Kent 
County.

   Mr. Bryant was born and reared in the Sunbeam community, he had lived in 
Hampton and Newport News for the last thirty-two years. He joined Mt. Horeb M.E. 
Church at an early age and later moved his membership to Trinity M.E. Church, 
Newport News.

   Funeral services were conducted from New Hope Church Sunday at 3 p.m. by the 
Rev. J.W. Morrison, assisted by Rev. C.E. Derby of the Phoebus M.E. Church. The 
hymns, “In the Sweet Bye and Bye,” “In the Garden,” and “Jesus Savior Pilot Me,” 
were sung by members of New Hope, Mt. Horeb, Sunbeam, and Buckhorn choirs.

   Pallbearers were Dillard Riddick, George Prince, Frank Stephenson, John 
Crumpler, J.B. and Frank Ferguson, Franklin and Ben Bryant. Honorary pallbearers 
were friends of the family, the casket was covered with a double spray of ferns, 
white carnations and pink roses. There were many other lovely floral pieces.

   Interment was in the Railey family plot in the church yard.
