ELIZABETH WILLIAMS BURKETTE

THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 12-29-1960, SECT. 2, P. 6

   SUFFOLK – Mrs. Elizabeth Williams Burkette, 54, died Sunday at her home, 
508 Park Rd.

   She was the wife of O.L. Burkette, assistant circulation manger of The 
Virginian Pilot and Ledger-Star, and a daughter of Mrs. Maria Williams and the 
late John Buxton Williams of Warrenton, N.C.

   Mrs. Burkette was a member of Oxford Methodist Church.

   Besides her husband and mother she is survived by four brothers, John 
Buxton Williams of Ahoskie, N.C., Samuel Williams of Raleigh, Jonas Williams 
of Winston Salem, and R.M. Williams of Atlanta; four sisters, Mrs. T.H. Wilder 
of Raleigh, Mrs. Jack Shannon of Washington, Mrs. Faye Shannon of Santa Rosa, 
Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Barnes of Warrenton.

   A funeral service was conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Oxford Methodist 
Church by the Rev. H.H. Elliott, and the Rev. A. Woodrow Laine of South Hill.

   A graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Warrenton.
