A native of Como, N.C., Mr. Carter at one time resided in Franklin but had made his home in Norfolk for the past 32 years. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the 29th Division, and was a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 266, A.F. & A.M. , and of the Franklin Baptist Church. For many years he had been employed by the Virginia Electric & Power Company in Norfolk. Besides his wife he is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Thomas Parker of Branchville, and several cousins. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Norfolk, with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
