JOHN BENJAMIN COLLIER

THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 09-20-1940

   John B. Collier, well-known merchant and citizen of Garysburg, N.C., died 
at his home there September 18, in his 75th year after a long illness. He was 
a consistent member of the Garysburg M.E. Church, a man of sterling character 
who was well and favorably known to a number of our county people.

   Mr. Collier is survived by his wife and eight children one of whom is Mrs. 
Jack G. Holland of this town. Franklin people who were in Garysburg yesterday 
for the funeral rites included: Mr. and Mrs. Jack G. Holland, Mr. and Mrs. 
F.F. Powell, Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard Bell, Mrs. A.S. 
Johnson and Rev. B.B. Bland.
