Born in Capron in May, 1877, he was a son of the late Argal A. and Mrs. Fanny Turner Edwards. He spent most of his life in the Ahoskie section. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. B.R. Lea of Norfolk, Mrs. H.E. Shaw of Weldon, N.C., and Mrs. Lockwood Peele, Mrs. Waverly Coleman and Miss Florence Edwards, all of Ahoskie, six sons, Clarence Edwards of Norfolk; Luther Edwards of Lewiston, N.C.; James Edwards of Windsor, N.C., and Lewis, Eldridge and William Edwards, all of Ahoskie; two sisters, Mrs. John R. Williford of Franklin and Mrs. A.A. Bryant of Plymouth, N.C.; and eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, July 20, at five o’clock at the Garrett Funeral Home in Ahoskie by Rev. Oscar Creech, assisted by Rev. G.M. Pickard and Rev. H.M. McLamb.
