JAMES WILLIAM EDWARDS

   COMO, N.C. – James William Edwards, 92, retired farmer, died last Thursday in 
Southampton Memorial Hospital after illness of two weeks.
   Born in Southampton County, he moved to Como at an early age and lived here
since. 
He was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church.
   Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. F.S. Nowell and Mrs. C.W. Drake of Como and 
Mrs. Jesse Vaughan of Murfreesboro; four sons, Peter Edwards, Sam Edwards and Marvin

Edwards of Como and Norman Edwards of Franklin; a brother, Paul Edwards of Boykins,

Va.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Balance of Newsoms, Va.; 22 grandchildren, 36
great-grandchildren 
and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
   A funeral service was conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Buckhorn Baptist Church by
the 
Rev. E.E. Ballard. Burial was in the church yard with Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie
in charge.
