He was the son of the late Tully M. and Mrs. Martha Sarah Darden Forbes of Hertford County, N.C., but had made his home here for many years. He was a consistent member of the Franklin Baptist Church and one of the oldest members of Franklin Lodge No. 51, Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson Forbes; four sons, Morrisette and David Forbes of V.P. I., Blacksburg, T. Sergt. James H. Forbes of Chambersburg, Penn., and George D. Forbes of Suffolk; two daughters, Mrs. C.S. Brown of Norfolk and Mrs. John D’Moch of Honolulu; five grandchildren; four brothers, James M., of Murfreesboro; Tully M., Jr., of Ahoskie; Fred of Holland and Cecil T. of Mapleton, N.C., besides a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Franklin Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, burial following in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were: John C. Rose, Sr., L.B. Norfleet, W.H.Rash, Carlton Cutchin, Edgar B. Jackson, Rupert Tarte, J. Letcher Eley and G. Carl Steinhardt.
