HERTFORDMAN DIES IN SUFFOLK

W. R. Garris, Farmer, Succumbs To Short Illness at Local Hospital Saturday 
Night; Was 62 Years of Age.

W. R. Garris, 62, prominent farmer of Hertford County, N. C., died Saturday 
night in a local hospital after a short illness. Mr. Garrett is survived by his 
widow, Mrs. Nannie Garris and seven children; three daughters, Mrs. C. J. Joyner 
and Mrs. A. W. Vincent, of Murfreesboro, N. C„ Miss Sallie Garris, of Hertford 
County, N. C.; four sons, J. P. Garris, of Norfolk, J. R. Garris, of Roanoke, B. 
V. Garris and Walter Garris of Murfreesboro, N. C.; three sisters, Mrs. J. H. 
Vincent, of Ahoskie. N. C., Mrs. J. E. Copeland, of St. Stephens, S. C., Mrs. E. 
L. Lawrence of Murfreesboro, N. C.; three brothers, T. L. Garris, of 
Murfreesboro, T. J. Garris, of Norfolk, J. J. Garris of Southern Pines, N. C.; 
also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Merrahan Baptist 
church in Murfreesboro, N. C., conducted by the Rev. J. M. Duncan. Interment was 
in the family cemetery.
