Bryant, on Monday morning, January 31. She was 74 years of age. Mrs. Hoggard was a widow of the late Dr. John W. Hoggard and a daughter of George Washington Pruden and Mrs. Mollie Louise Pruden. She was a native of North Carolina but had been a resident of Boykins for the past 14 years. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the public schools of her state for 45 years. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Bryant, she is survived by a son, John Norfleet Hoggard of Norfolk; a brother, G. Stanley Pruden of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie P. Spencer and Mrs. George Robert Stephenson, both of Severn, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Boykins Baptist Church by Rev. Felix Arnold of Enfield, N.C., assisted by Rev. W.S. Ferguson, pastor of the Boykins Methodist Church. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: James P. Stephenson, Willis Stephenson, Wallace Stephenson, Dudley Barnes, Emmett White, Douglas Pruden, G.B. Pruden and J.B. Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Mrs. A.M. Williams was organist. The lovely floral designs and the large number attending the services attested to the high esteem in which Mrs. Hoggard was held by all who knew her.
