HOLLAND Mrs. Carrie M. Holland, wife of the late Jesse T. Holland and daughter of the late Robert and Nancy Howell, died suddenly Monday, December 30, at her home near Sunbeam. She was 59 years of age and had been a life-long resident of the community. Surviving her are two daughters, Misses Gladys and Carrye Lee Holland; four sons, N.P., Harvey, and Elmer Holland and J. Clyde Holland of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Bertha, Robert and Lewis Holland and two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Pope of Capron and Mrs. M.A. Smith of Portsmouth. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1 o’clock at New Hope Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. R.H. Marks. The choir sang “The Home over There,” “We Shall Sleep but Not Forever” and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.” Burial was held in the family cemetery. The body bearers were: Harry Fowler, Algie Fowler, Hudson Pope, Guy Pope, Heber Modlin, Caleb Hurst, J.R. Howell and Clarence Holland.
