According to Sheriff Bunch Parker of Ahoskie, Mrs. Cecilia Baugham Jeffreys, 48, was shot while spraying her flowers with what her neighbor, Lob Perry, described as poisonous spray. Perry told Sheriff Parker that he had warned Mrs. Jeffreys about using that spray once before because it was irritating to him and his wife. When he saw Mrs. Perry using it again he went out his back door and shot her with a number 4 shotgun. Mrs. Perry was shot in the face and upper chest. Lob is being held without bond in the Hertford County jail. Funeral services for Mrs. Jeffreys will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home by the Rev. Lonnie Sasser and the Rev. W.B. Brookshire, Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor. Surviving are her husband, Brantley A. Jeffreys; one step-son, Michael Jeffreys of U.S. Air Force, Craig A.F.B., Alabama; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Baugham; and two sisters, Mrs. W.O. Asbell and Ahoskie. NOTE: second sister left out.
