ROLO TURNER LASSITER

   BOYKINS – Rolo Turner Lassiter, 71, well-known lumberman died Friday 
morning at 7:30 at his residence after a long illness.

   A native of Hertford County, N.C., he had resided in Boykins for 26 years. 
He was the son of Turner and Mrs. Mary Jane Newsom Lassiter.

   He was a past member of the board of deacons of Boykins Baptist Church; 
past member of Boykins Town Council, and a member of Boykins Masonic Lodge 287.

   He was the owner of White & Lassiter Timber Co. of Boykins. He had been in 
the lumber business since he was 15.

   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorelle Taylor Lassiter; one daughter, 
Mrs. H.H. Ford Sr.; one son, Rolo T. Lassiter Jr. all of Boykins; two 
brothers, Clyde T. Lassiter of Boykins and Marshall Lassiter of Ahoskie, N.C.; 
three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie L. Mitchell of Ahoskie; Mrs. Jennie L. Ward and 
Mrs. Stella L. White, both of Aulander, N.C.; four grandchildren and one great-
grandson.

   A funeral service was conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Boykins Baptist 
Church by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery pastor, and the Rev. N.B. Habel of Victoria. 
Burial was in Whitakers Cemetery, Whitakers, N.C.

   Pallbearers were Roy A., Albert K., Hassell and Turner Lassiter, and Louis, 
John, T.B. and Jay Smith.
