I, P. 5 WILLIE WAVERLY NURNEY BOYKINS - Funeral services for Willie Waverly Nurney, 84, were conducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The Rev. Ben B. Ussery of Boykins Baptist Church officiated. Nurney died Monday at 2:05 p.m. in a Franklin hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Hertford County, N.C. and lived in Southampton County 64 years. A retired farmer, he was a member of Davis Ridley Hunt Club and Boykins Baptist Church. He was a son of Willie and Mrs. Sallie Parker Nurney and husband of the late Mrs. Mary Jane Gray Nurney. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Whitehead, Mrs. Wilma Bryant, Mrs. Nellie Ballard and Mrs. Margaret Magette of Courtland; a brother, Leasure Nurney of Capron; a sister, Mrs. Mae Vincent of Seaboard, N.C.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, was in charge. Pallbearers were Paul Camp Marks, Bobby Marks, Jack Britt, H.T. Smith, Earl Bryant, Churchill G. Ridley, James H. Hill and George Prince. Honorary pallbearers were member of the Davis Ridley Hunt Club and members of Mr. Nurney's Sunday school class.
