She was the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Harriet Wescott Wilkinson and was born in 1842 in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1876 she married Edwin E. Parham, who was for many years President of the Wesleyan Female College in Murfreesboro. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Mary U. Parham of Murfreesboro, a sister, Mrs. W.L. Hughlette of Florida, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at 3:30 from the Murfreesboro Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. E.W. Dowdnum of Murfreesboro, assisted by Rev. W.C. Merritt of Benson, N.C., and Rev. J.B. Hurley of Halifax, N.C. Interment was made Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, active pallbearers being: T.B. Wynn, E.N. Nicholson, Dr. L.M. Futrell, J.B. Henson, J.R. Parker, D.C. Barnes, L.J. Lawrence, W.C. Ferguson, C.E. Boyette, L.M. Cox, E.N. Evans and M.C. Matthews. “As a Christian her life was noble, all the fine traits that go to make a beautiful character belonging to her. Her influence will live with us to make life sweeter and holier and lend its light to the remaining portion of the pathway that separates us.” - Contributed.
