Mrs. Parker, who was 81 years of age had been in ill health for several years and had been confined to her bed for several months. She was the wife of the late John Parker and had previously made her home near Murfreesboro until death of her husband. She was a Christian character and her genial, kind, sympathetic disposition won for her many friends. Funeral services were held at the grave Saturday afternoon in Boykins, conducted by Rev. R.L. Haga, assisted by Rev. F. B. Handley. “When the Roll is Called up Yonder” and “Life’s Railway to Heaven” were sung by the church choirs. Mrs. Parker is survived by three daughters, Mrs. C.D. Overbey of Courtland, Mrs. David Ricks of Newsoms and Mrs. Arthur Cook of Richmond; two sons, Thomas and Riddick Parker of Branchville and one brother, John Mann of Severn, N.C., besides several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were her grandsons, George Overbey, James Cook, Dudley Overbey, Willie Cook, Dick Overbey and Vernon Cook.
