   SUFFOLK – Mrs. Laura Whitley Worrell Pope, 82, 1920 Holland Road, died 
Sunday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. Born in Hertford County, N.C., she 
was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, 
Mrs. Alice W. Barnhill, Mrs. Ruth W. Culbertson and Mrs. Eva W. Holland all of 
Suffolk, and Mrs. Nellie W. Bryant of Nelson; two sons George B. Pope, Jr. of 
Courtland and Edward H. Worrell of Suffolk; four sisters, Mrs. Mary W. Pope of 
Suffolk, Mrs. Rosa W. Emory of Murfreesboro, N.C. Mrs. Susie W. Vaughan of 
Conway, N.C. and Bessie W. Whitehead of Ahoskie, N.C.; eight grandchildren and 
four great-grandchildren. 

   A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral 
Home by the Rev. David S. Dillon. Burial will be in Buckhorn Baptist Church 
Cemetery, Como, N.C.  The family will be at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. 
Barnhill, 909 McArthur Drive, Suffolk.  I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home is in 
charge.
