II, P. 1 WALLACE ROGER SIMMONS COMO, N.C. – Wallace Roger Simmons, 64, died at his home Monday at 2:20 p.m. after an illness of several months. He was the husband of Mrs. Katherine Howell Simmons and a son of the late Walter V. Simmons and Mrs. Nancy Caroon Simmons, both of Newsoms. Before his illness, he was employee by the St. Regis Mfg. Co., Franklin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War I. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Wallace Robert Simmons, Lexington, and Walter Maurice Simmons, Sedley; one sister, Mrs. J.B. Everett, Newsoms; four brothers, S.R. Simmons and J.V. Simmons, Newsoms; L.P. Simmons, Franklin and L.W. Simmons, Norfolk. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at the Buckhorn Baptist Church by the Rev. F. Milam Johnson, pastor. Burial was in the family cemetery. Pallbearers were James A. Walthall, Ashley M. Vaughan and M.P. Frampton, all of Franklin; William H. Snead of Statesville, and Richard E. Fuller, P.D. Howell, Richard H. Taylor, Howard K. Taylor and Walter H. Sumner.
