THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 01-29-1981

   COMO, N.C. – Funeral services for Nona Whitley Spruill, 80, were held 
Monday in Buckhorn Baptist Church cemetery by the Revs. Edward Samples and 
Harry Bunch. Garrett Funeral Home had charge.

   Pallbearers were: Wesley Sumner, Leonard Sumner, Ray Sumner, James E. 
Spruill, Gerald Spruill, and Dennis Spruill.

   A native of Hertford County, Spruill died Saturday.

   She was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church.

   Survivors include two daughters Maxine Sumner of Ahoskie and Jean Carter of 
Norfolk; three sons, Leslie E. Spruill, Jr., Oscar Spruill, and Gerald 
Spruill, and two brothers Linwood Whitley and Gilbert Whitley, all of Como; 10 
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
