Rites Held For Mrs. Stephenson Today In Franklin

  FRANKLIN - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Edward Stephenson were conducted 
today at 2:30 p.m. at the W.J.M. Holland Funeral Home by the Rev. Gilliam 
Bentley, pastor of High Street Methodist Church.  Burial was in Poplar Spring 
Cemetery.

  Mrs. Stephenson, 66, widow of Roscoe Stephenson, died early Thursday morning 
at the home of her sister, Mrs. R.V. Carpenter, on Hunterdale Road after an 
illness of many months.

  She was a daughter of Newitt and Mrs. Talitha Whitley Edwards of Southampton 
County and was a member of High Street Methodist Church.

  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gordon Cobb of Courtland and Mrs. Vincent 
Lankford Jr., of Franklin.  Three sisters, Mrs. J.V. Milteer, Mrs. Annie Blythe 
Parker and Mrs. R.V. Carpenter of Franklin; one brother, Emmett Edwards of 
Washington; and one grandchild.
