WILLIAM THOMAS TAYLOR

THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 09-13-1940, P. 8

   William Thomas Taylor, aged 70, well-known resident of Como, N.C., died 
Monday morning after a short illness at his home.

   Mr. Taylor was the son of the late W.E. Taylor of Hertford County, N.C., 
and Amanda Cobb Taylor of Isle of Wight County, Va., and is survived by his 
wife, Mattie Gardner Taylor, formerly of Northampton County, N.C.; four sons, 
William Thomas Taylor, Jr., Howard, Richard and Franklin Taylor, all of Como; 
three daughters, Mrs. Walter Dudley of Moncure, N.C., Mrs. Emory James of 
Winston-Salem, Miss Martha Taylor of Como, one brother, John C. Taylor of 
Como; three sister, Mrs. W.G. Williams of Franklin, Mrs. Walter Howell and 
Miss Mary Taylor of Como.

   Funeral services were held from the residence at Como at 4 o’clock Tuesday 
afternoon by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson and the Rev. L.E. Lanier. Active 
pallbearers were Wharton Williams, Frank Williams, R.J. Tucker, Elmo Barnes, 
W.W. White, Jr., Rufus Darden, Guy C. Hill and Robert T. Howell.

   Interment was in Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery at Como.
