BESSIE EVERETT UNDERWOOD

   SUFFOLK – A funeral service for Bessie Everett Underwood, 77, was held at 1 
p.m. Saturday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. T.A. Powell. 
Burial was in Somerton United Methodist Church Cemetery.

   Mrs. Underwood died Wednesday in a hospital.

   A native of Hertford County, N.C., she is survived by her husband Lloyd 
Carr Underwood.

   Other survivors include three daughters, Helen Peavy of Suffolk, Shirley 
Owens of Zuni and Barbara Smith of Gallatin, Tenn.; five sons, James (Buck) 
Daughtrey, Frankie Daughtrey, Eston Daughtrey and Aubrey Daughtrey, all of 
Suffolk, and Robert Daughtrey of Ahoskie, N.C.; a brother, James Everett of 
Athens, Ga.; 29 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
