MAGGIE BESS VANN

   Mrs. Maggie Bess Vann, 75 died Monday morning at 7:30 at the home of her son 
Lonnie Vann.

   Mrs. Vann was a native of Hertford County, N.C., she was a member of the 
Church of God. She was the widow of Kindred Vann and the daughter of Lonnie L. 
and Mrs. Clara Britt Bess.

   Surviving besides her son are two other sons, Ray W. Vann of Norfolk and 
Julian E. Vann of Little Washington, N.C., two daughters, Mrs. Lucille McDonald 
and Mrs. Doris Burke of Gatesville, Texas. Three sisters, Mrs. W.C. Stradley of 
Franklin, Mrs. Normie Rhodes of Portsmouth and Mrs. Pearl Hoyt of Calif.  
Fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

   A funeral service was conducted on Thursday at noon in the Meherrin Baptist 
Church, Murfreesboro, N.C. by the Rev. John D. Davis pastor of the church and the 
Rev. Jack Simmons of Ashland. Burial was in the church cemetery.

   Pallbearers were; James T. Worrell, Earl Vann, Richard Vann, Douglas Vinson, 
Doc Vincon, Ralph Stradley and Raymond Bess.
