SHIRLEY ROSE VAUGHAN

  A funeral service for Mrs. Shirley Rose Vaughan, 38, will be held today, May 
2, in the Church of God by the Rev. Fred Hopkins.

  Burial will be in Southampton Memorial park with W.J.M. Holland and Sons in 
charge.

  Mrs. Vaughan, of Rt. 1, Franklin died Tuesday evening after a short illness.

  A native of Hertford, N.C. she was a daughter of Lonnie J. and Mrs. Ilethia 
Byrum Byrd, and was the wife of Robert P. Vaughan.

  She was a member of the Church of God.

  Besides her husband and parents, surviving are one daughter, Miss Martha 
Vaughan, and two sons, Robert O. Vaughan and Glenn T. Vaughan, all of 
Franklin; four sisters, Mrs. Barbara Tadlock of Windsor, N.C., Mrs. Carolyn 
Williams of New Bern, N.C., Mrs. Jean Gay Ward of Vansboro, N.C. and Mrs. Irma 
Ford of Norfolk; four brothers, harry Byrd of Windsor, N.C., Lonnie J. Byrd 
Jr. of Aulander, N.C., Aubrey Byrd of Merryhill, N.C. and Edward Lee Byrd of 
Merryhill, N.C.; and one grandchild.
