ELVIN HARRELL WHITLEY

   CARRSVILLE - A funeral service for Elvin Harrell Whitley, 80, of Carrsville, 
was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. Edwin C. 
Thornton Jr., the Robert D. Fridley and the Rev. Sidney Cowles.
   Burial was in the church cemetery.
   Pallbearers were Robert J. Goodrich, Carson Whitley Jr., Marvin Worrell, 
Wallace Butler, Sam D. Butler Jr. and Eugene Cook.
   A native of Hertford County, N.C. and a resident of Carrsville for the past 70 
years, he was the husband of the late Mary Lou Lankford Whitley and a son of 
Charles Henry and Mrs. Sallie Ann Whitley.
   A retired farmer, he was a life deacon of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, a member 
of its Men’s Bible Class, a charter member of Walters Ruritan Club and a member 
of Walters Ruritan Club and a member of Walters Camp, Woodmen of the World.
   Surviving are two sons Elvin Harrell Whitley Jr. and Charles Roland Whitley of 
Franklin; one brother Percy A. Whitley of Carrsville; four grandchildren and 
three great grandchildren.
