WINFRED LOIS WHITLEY

   COMO, N.C. – A funeral service for Miss Winfred Lois Whitley was Monday at 
2:30 p.m. in Buckhorn Baptist Church by the Rev. N.J. McManus, pastor, and the 
Rev. James H. Nowell of Knox Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Buckhorn Church 
Cemetery with Holland Funeral Inc., Murfreesboro, in charge.

   Pallbearers were Cyrus D. Howell, Harold B. Barrett, Fushee Railey, Rufus 
Darden, S.T. Burbage, John H. Phipps, Rosser Bryant, Elvin Curle, Ralph Barrett 
and Thomas Bowles.

   Miss Whitley, 64, died Saturday evening in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

   A native of Hertford County, she was a daughter of Richmond Oscar and Mrs. 
Mary Overton Whitley.

   She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Norfolk. For 30 years, she 
lived in Norfolk and was secretary to the staff of Norfolk Naval Air Station.

   Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Christie W. Brett of Franklin, Mrs. Nona W. 
Spruill, and Mrs. Maw W. Howell of Como; and three brothers, Davis Collin 
Whitley of Franklin, Linwood Whitley and Richard Gilbert Whitley of Como.
