JESSIE JONES WINBORNE

   Mrs. Jessie Jones Winborne, 82 native of Churchland and widow of Samuel 
Pretlow Winborne, who died at Raiford Memorial Hospital Saturday morning, 
January 5, at 3:30 o’clock after a brief illness.

   Mrs. Winborne was born November 23, 1863, daughter of the Rev. Reuben H. and 
Susan Deane Jones. She was educated at Chowan College, Murfreesboro, and for 
many years taught school in the State. She was married to Mr. Winborne of Como, 
on November 2, 1892.

   She is survived by four daughters, Miss Mary Pretlow Winborne, of 
Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. J.B.Majette and Miss Dora Winborne, of Como, and Mrs. 
W.J.M. Holland Jr., of Franklin; five grandchildren, Jethro B. Majette, Jr., of 
Como; Miss Helen Jones Majette, Jr., of Duke Hospital, Durham; Joseph Pretlow 
Majette, USN; W.J.M. Holland, 3d, and Samuel Winborne Holland, of Franklin.

   The body was taken to the Holland Funeral Home in Franklin and on Sunday was 
taken to Buckhorn Baptist Church for funeral services at 3 p.m., conducted by 
the Rev. J.E. Lanier, the Rev. E. Norfleet Gardner and the Rev. R.D. 
Stephenson. Burial was in the church cemetery.

   Pallbearers were: McDonald Spiers, Davis Spiers, Dare Boone, Paul Majette, 
Julian Worrell, Archie Brown, Rosser Bryant and Rufus Darden.
