Born in Murfreesboro, NC on September 15, 1937, she was a daughter of the late William Charles Stradley and Blanche Bess Stradley. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Pamela W. Horsley; three brothers, Charles, Ralph, and Bobby Stradley; two half- sisters, Edith Lovett and Blanche Karnes; and two half-brothers, J. Q. and William Henderson. Clara was a graduate of Franklin High School. She married the love of her life, James on June 12, 1958. She was a beautician at Town and Country Beauty Shop before owning Clara’s Sewing Box in Franklin for over 25 years. She retired and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, and crocheting. She was an avid gardener who could make anything grow. She enjoyed many trips to the beach during her lifetime which fostered a love of the sand and sea in many of her family members. She was a member of Holland Baptist Church for over 50 years. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Cathy W. Darden (Thomas), Kimberly W. Outland (John), and Renee W. Wrenn (Chuck); a son-in-law, Barry Horsley; nine grandchildren, April Fowler, James Darden (Jessica), Jamie Adams (David), Cal Horsley (Shannon), Will Horsley (Shannan), Brittany Outland, Leo Outland (Victoria), Brad Wrenn, and Brent Wrenn (Katie); 17 great grandchildren, Hayleigh, Austin, Chase, Matteo, TJ, Isabella, Meleah, Isaac, Acea, Brynlee, Barry III, Craig, Hailey, Hadley, Wylie, Bradlea, and Landon and many nieces and nephews. She also left a beloved cat, Sweet Pea, who was a great source of comfort in her recent years. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Holland Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Johnson and Rev. Josh Worrell officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missions fund at Holland Baptist Church, 6519 Holland Road, Suffolk, VA 23437.
