Hertford County, NC - Obituary of Miss Charlie E. Williams ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OBITUARY of: Miss Charlie E. Williams February 1903 +++++++ Williams God, in His unerring providence, on February 16, 1903, took from our midst in a tornado that wrecked and sunk the steamer Olive in the Chowan River, Miss Charlie E.Williams, while in the bloom of womanhood, aged 29. Our community in the death of Miss Williams, loses a sweet spirited and cheerful young lady. Christian Harbor church loses a worthy member and the Sunday-school a good worker, the mother an obedient daughter; the father his joy; the brother a loving and kind sister; all the companions (and they were many) a loving friend. We cheerfully commend her spirit to Him who is too wise to err. And pray that we may be able to join hands with Charlie in the sweet bye and bye. And we Resolve 1. To humbly submit to the dispensation of God's providence and commend His ruling to the father, mother and brother, to the church she so dearly loved, to the Sunday-school she so faithfully served. 2. That we send a copy of this tribute to the bereaved family, with our condolence, to the Biblical Recorder for publication, and spread this record upon our minutes. WILLIE D. EVANS, MAMMIE A MILER, G. E. HOLLOMON, Committee. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
