Spiers of Murfreesboro in the State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but concious of the uncertainty of human life, do make publish and declare the following to be my last will and testament in manner and form as follows Item 1st I wish my body buried in a decent and becoming manner and reverently commit my Soul to God who gave it Item Second I give to my Executor hereinafter named all my real estae of every kind and description in the Town of Murfreesboro, N.C. consisting of the house and lot upon which I reside, and a vacant lot adjoining it to be held in trust for the support and maintenance of my beloved husband Lewis T. Spiers during his natural life, not to be subject in any manner to the debts and contracts of my said husband. Item Third. At the death of my said husband I give devise and bequeath the real estate mentioned in the second item of my Will to Mary Estelle Barrett wife of Richard C. Barrett and Fannie F. Spiers wife of A.P. Hines equally to be divided between them share and share alike. Item Fourth. I nominate and appoint A.P. Hines Executor to this my last will and testament hereby revoking any and all wills heretofore made by me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 27 day of February 1879. Spiers make publish and declare the following to be a codicil to my Will. Item First. I give and bequeath all my personal estate of every kind and description to be held by my Executor for the same purposes as is declared in my will as to my real estate that is to say for the support of my husband Lewis T. Spiers during life and then to Mary E. Barrett and Fannie T. Spiers equally to be divided between them share and share alike. Given under my hand and seal this the 27 day of February 1879. Mary A. Parker North Carolina } Hertford County } In the Probate Court December 5th 1881 A paper writing with a codicil annexed purporting to be the last Will and testament of Mary A. Spiers was this day exhibited for probate before the undersigned Judge Probate for said County by A.P. Hines the Executor therein named and the due execution thereof by the said Mary A. Spiers was proved by the oath and examination of H.T. Lasseter and G.D. Parker the subscribed witnesses thereto. It is therefore considered by the Court that the said paper writing and the Cocicil thereto annexed and every part thereof is the last Will and Testament of the same Mary A. Spiers and is duly recorded and admitted to the records of the Court. W.J.
