Hertford County, NC - Estate of Wright Nichols, 1871 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Letter to Hertford County Probate Judge re: Estate of Wright Nichols Huntsville, Alabama, Oct 31st 1871 To Judge of Probate Winton, Hertford Co. N.C. Dear Sir About twenty five years ago Wright Nickols died in your County, leaving a will which was admitted to Probate, and by said will appointing an Executor who undertook to discharge the duties, as such, under the will. He left a son Everet Nickols, who is now dead, leaving two children who reside in this County. I learn that by said will Everet Nickols should have received several thousand dollars, which he did not receive, and that upon the final settlement by said Executor, the money was, by order of Court, deposited for said Everet. If there appears from the records of your Court that there is anything due to said Everet or his children from the estate of Wright Nickols, you will do me a great favor by writing me all the facts connected with the settlement of said Estate. I have heard that during the war the records of your County were moved to another County and in consequence there may be some facts lost, but if there be any chance to recover anything for the children of Everet Nickols, you shall be fully compensated for any trouble. Please let me hear from you and oblige one who writes in the interest of others. Very Respectfully J. G. Cochran __________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
