Will file, NC State Archives, CR.010.801.16, date of will 26 Dec 1822, date recorded Feb Ct 1833, executors Abraim Harmon, Leander Tayloe, John Rice and John Holder; “being in perfect mind and memory and knowing my time in this life to be but short”; my son Mills Tayloe one negro man Harry; son Leander Tayloe land lying in Hartford Co beginning at a persimmon trey Thomas Jones line then running a strait course to the mouth of (Found) Branch then up the said branch to Abraim Harmon’s line then along Harmon’s line to Jones Corner and then along Jones line to the first station; to my son John Tayloe land lying in Hartford Co. beginning at a pine in Leander Tayloe line then along a line of marked trees to Abner Perry’s line then to (Oaddom) corner in Round pocosin then along a line of marked trees to a white oak (Agustain) Jinkins corner then along Thomas Jones line to a pine a corner then along a line of marked trees to a persimmon tree Leander Tayloe’s corner and then along Leander Tayloe’s line to first station; to my son Ritehard Rhodes Tayloe land lying in Hertford Co. beginning at the mouth of (fouard) branch in a (heaskey) Swamp then running up the said swamp above Mingo Island to a branch Abner Perry line then up the main run of said branch to John Tayloe corner a white oak then along John Tayloe line to a pine in Leander Tayloe line then along Leander Tayloe’s line to the first station also $60 in money; to Jonathan Moore Tayloe the tract of land I bought of Jesse hail also the tract of land that I bought of Thomas Corbit ajoining the other tract; to my wife Sarah Tayloe during her natural life or widowhood land where on I now live and all my land adjoining of the said tract, also one negro man George and one Negro woman named Esther during her life or widowhood (also some stock and personal property); to my son Robert Redick Tayloe Negro boy named Chance and all the land where I now live and all land adjoining that tract after the death or widowhood of my wife Sarah Tayloe, also one tract of land that I bought of Thomas Holder containing 70 acres; to my daughter Treasey Harmon one negro man named Nathan; to my daughter Elizabeth Dunning $200 in money; to my daughter Christain Harmon one negro woman named Rachel; to my daughter Isabel Bird $200 in money; to my daughter Margret Tayloe one negro boy named Blunt; to my daughter Tempty Tayloe one negro boy named Lawney; to my daughter Harret Tayloe one negro girl named Penny; to my granddaughter Margaret Bunch $50; to my granddaughter Christain Holder $50; the two negroes that I lent to my wife Sarah Tayloe after her death or widowhood, to be sold and the money equally divided among all my children except my son John Tayloe; all remaining property that is not given in legacies to be sold and after my debts paid, the balance to be equally divided among all my children except my son John Tayloe; signed James Tayloe, wit.
