Heringes, 36 of Tampa, Fl. died Friday, August 24, 2007 near Tjkrit, Iraq after an explosive device detonated near His Unit during combat (bomb causing His death.) Survivors: Ronald and Joyce Heringes of Spring Hill, Fl; His Wife, Shannan Heringes; Son, Logan Heringes; His Stepdaughter, Cheyenne Ward all of Raeford, N.C. and His Sister and Brother-in-Law, Melissa and Bobby Rhone of Wesley Chapel, Fl. Sgt. 1st. Class Heringes moved from Parma, Ohio to Tampa in the 10th grade and graduated from Leto High School in 1989.He joined the Army in 1991. Assigned to the 1st. Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd. Brigade Combat Team, 82nd. Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. Sgt. Heringes was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Monday, September 10, 2007. He received numerous awards including the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart and an Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters. Memorial service will take place at 11am. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5601 Hanley Road, Tampa, Fl. 33634. (813) 884-3097. John B. (Alachua, Santa Rosa, Leon has a Spring Hill.) Raeford, North Carolina is located in Hoke County. Wesley Chapel, Fl. is located just northeast of Tampa in Pasco County. Parma, Ohio and Parma Heights is located in Cuyahoga County. Fort Bragg, N.C. is located in Cumberland County. Arlington National Cemetery is located at Wash., D.C. in Arlington, Va. Commendation Medal for those Who display meritorious service, meritorious achievement or Heroism. Bronze Star for Heroic achievement or Meritorious service. For Heroic achievement a bronze "V" is worn on the ribbon. Purple Heart was originated by General George Washington in 1782 as the Badge for Military Merit.
